While many people are free to visit the dentist whenever we need to, some of us aren’t able or willing to take that time off work. At Tooth Works Dentistry, we won’t make you bend over backwards for a checkup. We want to make your visit as painless as possible, and that starts with accommodating your schedule. If you’re one of the many patients who need to schedule your checkup before your workday starts, take advantage of our early opening hours, starting at 7:00 a.m. To ensure your appointment runs smoothly, follow these easy solutions:

Show up early

Do whatever you can to arrive at least a few minutes before your scheduled appointment. Set your alarm early, and pick out your clothes and pack your lunch the night before. This grace period allows you time to fill out any necessary forms, but also gives you the opportunity to begin your appointment early if your dentist is ready to treat you.

Floss thoroughly the night before

Flossing can take up a huge part of your morning regimen. A regular floss may be quick and easy, but the type of flossing we undertake when we know our dentist will be carefully inspecting every nook and cranny of our teeth and gums can wind up making us late for our appointment. To cut things short, take your time flossing the night before. Not only will your efforts impress your dentist, but you will also make less work for the hygienist, which will get you out of there faster. Just don’t forget to give your teeth a quick floss the morning of!

Adjust your caffeine schedule

We all know that coffee and tea stain your teeth—but we also know that arriving at a 7:00 a.m. appointment on time usually requires high amounts of caffeine. Coffee and tea are highly acidic, which means that brushing your teeth right after you drink your requisite three cups of java can actually damage your enamel. The rule of thumb is to wait 30 minutes for the acids to dissipate from the surface of your teeth before brushing. If you can’t wait 30 minutes in between coffee time and brushing time, try to go without it or wait until after your appointment to get your caffeine fix.

Call ahead to arrange payment

If your appointment runs smoothly without any surprises, you can certainly expect to get to work on time. Our dentists and hygienists understand that your time is valuable, so we will do everything we can to be efficient. To automatically reduce the amount of time you will have to spend at our office, call ahead to make sure we have your credit card on file. You can shave off a few precious minutes by simply setting up your payment method beforehand.
